Sometimes in life we face insurmountable obstacles, sorrows or troubles that we can’t see a way through. Jesus Christ says, “Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Soul care offers an opportunity to talk about these difficulties and turn to God together for hope, help and light.
Working with me centres around looking for answers in Jesus, confident that he is able to meet us in difficulties and to minister to us by his Spirit. I use a biblical counselling approach which provides an opportunity to connect the details of our lives to the wisdom of scripture. Whether you’re exploring Christianity or have been a Christian for many years, my prayer is that, as we come to Jesus, he would help us and change us.

About
I am a freelance biblical counsellor. I trained with Biblical Counselling UK (BCUK) and hold an Association of Biblical Counselors Equipped to Counsel certificate. I have also done continuous professional development with The Christian Trauma Healing Network.
Having started my professional life as a secondary school teacher, I now teach adults on the BCUK Certificate Course as a tutor for the online cohort.
I also serve as the Training and Resources Officer for BCUK writing and developing resources for churches and those in interpersonal ministry.
I am a trained and licenced Lay Pastoral Assistant in Salisbury Diocese and a member of the pastoral care team of my local church. I have many years of experience in lay ministry roles and subscribe to a biblical standard of ethics in my life and private practice.
Approach
I use a biblical counselling approach in my Soul Care practice. This involves a series of bi-weekly or monthly hour-long conversations. I begin by listening, using scripture as the lens to view your difficulties, with the aim of bringing the hope of the gospel to bear on your life.
In Soul Care I will help you to understand your struggles in the context of a Christian worldview that acknowledges God as creator and sustainer of all. God’s word (The Bible) and his work (in creation) reveal his goodness and wisdom to the world he has made.
I am confident that as we wrestle with current struggles God can “change us from glory to glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18). We are made in the image of God, and he cares deeply about us. God made us to reflect his glory, and this is the goal of Soul Care too.
Wonderfully, through Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit, God offers hope in our sorrow, help in trouble and light to see our challenges more clearly. Scripture teaches that we all need God to forgive, change and unblind us and thankfully he is “full of compassion and mercy” for us in our weakness (James 5:11).
Soul Care aims to bring an eternal perspective helping you to see how your life is bound up in God’s greater story. God is at work mending, restoring and renewing his people and his world. That means that the pain and brokenness we experience are not beyond God’s notice or scope.
